Dodder Flood Alleviation Scheme

Dodder Flood Alleviation Scheme

We were worried in the summer of 2010 about the lack of iconic construction projects such as we had visited in the summer of 2009. This site visit demonstrated that there are always interesting projects going on which do not perhaps get as much attention as the stadiums or airports but which are nonetheless most interesting. We were brought on a walk by the Dublin City Council Flood Defence Unit and Projects Division and shown all the innovative solutions which have been put in place in Dublin bay to prevent against the types of floods which historically caused severe damage in Dublin. It is most interesting to see the beautiful walkways created along the canal which all in fact serve as flood defences. It was a glorious sunny evening in Dublin which helped make this a most enjoyable evening. Our sincere thanks to of DCC for taking us on this walk and for joining us in Slatterys for the pints afterwards.
