Events in Midlands
23 February 2011
In October 2010 the Midlands branch of NAWIC introduced its members and supporters to some of the skills needed to "work a room" and develop a network of business contacts. Having begun to build a network you quickly realise that there is little point in putting time and effort into meeting lots of new and exciting people if no business ever develops from those relationships. One of the most important processes that business developers undertake is that of turning a contact into a client. The process consists of a series of steps and key milestones that need to be reached in order to achieve this goal. Great business developers are made, not born. However, NAWIC takes the view that a bit of guidance in developing the right skills can go a long way. This event featured a talk providing a st of tools and details of techniques that can be employed during the conversion process. The event gave attendees a clear understanding of the steps involved to more effectively convert their contacts into clients. Mike Ames is a Business Development Coach with a very successful track record of working with professional firms who want to increase sales but have a limited budget, resources and time. Michael very kindly delivered the talk. The session generated a lively debate about the use of social network sites as a tool for business development.
