Outstanding achievement in design awards

Rachel Nicholls of Arup, Melbourne was awarded the outstanding achievement in design award at the NAWIC awards in Australia

Rachel, who is Australasia Geotechnics Practice Leader, was awarded
the Hickory Award for Outstanding Achievement in Design at The National Association
of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Victoria and Tasmania Awards of Excellence,
held in Melbourne on 7 October.
The NAWIC Excellence Awards are held annually to recognise the significant
contributions of women in the construction sector. Rachel was recognised for her role in
the successful completion of the Springvale Road Rail Grade Separation ahead of time
and under budget. Leading the geotechnical engineering team for the project, Rachel
was involved from the outset as a key member of the tender team in developing an
alternative winning design to successfully secure the project.
