THE IMAGE OF CONSTRUCTION: an update

Posted in News London and South East

Last Summer NAWIC London launched the Image of Women in Construction project with Morley Von Sternberg

to challenge the current Image of Construction and demonstrate the contribution women are making in the UK Construction Industry.

The Image of Construction Project is a Book & Website that will show the diversity of women in the Industry and the variety of professions that they do. The aim is to showcase to young women in schools and universities that the Construction Industry offers excellent career choices. The collection of portraits will show their passions, inspirations and collaborations.

The Book/website’s aim is to show the tenacity of women in the Industry and to inspires more women to join the industry. To date we have photographed 95nr portrait shots at our launch and pop event; 59nr context photos of women in their working environment and 10nr group shots (102r women) again in their working environment. The photos have been from a variety of industries.

We are still looking for women to take in the project, especially those doing less known jobs.

These women can come from all disciplines and trades. We will continue to take photos of women interested in being in the project over September/October.
